Abstract

Dr Paul I Wills is one of the most dedicated members of the Academy. He participated in the Board of Governors for many years, including serving as Secretary from 1987 to 1990 and Chair from 1991 to 1992. His influence on the Board of Governors helped in the adoption of the Greater Academy Campaign to fund the current building in Alexandria.
Graduating from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Dr Wills did his residencies in Arizona and Houston, along with a two-year term with the US Air Force at Holliman Air Force Base in New Mexico in 1970. In 1975 he moved back to Arkansas and began private practice, initially with Western Arkansas Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic and subsequently with the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Division of Cooper Clinic in Fort Smith, where he currently practices.
Dr Wills serves on the Medical Aspects of Noise Subcommittee, the Advisory Board of the ENT PAC Committee, and the editorial board for the American Journal of Otolaryngology. He was on the Academy Nominating Committee in 1988 and 1997 and was an Honor Award recipient in 1994.
Dr Wills was named the 1999 Business Man of the Year by the National Republican Congressional Committee—one of six awards across the country that are given to the top business leaders who have been instrumental in helping to reform the Internal Revenue Service, pass the Financial Freedom Act of 1999, and maintain a Republican majority in Congress.
Along with his private practice, Dr Wills began a nutritional supplement company in 1999, known as Wills Labs of Hewitt, TX. He lives with his wife, Margaret.
