Abstract

DEAR SIR
The article by Ramesh Gupta on Kraepelin, Alzheimer and Munich 1 was a welcome contribution to our knowledge of the history of psychiatry.
It was interesting to read that Alzheimer's original microscope is in Munich, because it is also asserted that it is kept at his birth place, Ochsenfurter Strasse 15a, in Marktbreit, a village near Wuerzburg. Perhaps my photograph now lacks authenticity!
In 1989 a plaque was placed on the house on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Alzheimer's birth, and in 1995 Eli Lilly purchased the house and it is used not only as a memorial, but as a meeting venue. It is worth a visit.
