Abstract

The ATTD is traditionally completely open and continuously invites everyone interested in the care and cure of diabetes and its complications, including medical professionals, scientists, engineers, investors, and managers. We need all hands available to work together for the best solutions for our patients—people with diabetes. The ATTD Yearbook took upon the task of networking ever further, with the best available information presented in a smart and appealing format.
ATTD yearbooks became a useful companion to many professionals in the field of diabetes who need a comprehensive review of the latest knowledge, along with comments from the experts. Free online access through the websites of the ATTD and the publisher Mary Ann Liebert, Inc. makes the yearbook available to our colleagues who could not participate at the yearly ATTD meeting and obtain a printed copy, and most importantly, to those who may otherwise not have easy access to either original or review literature on diabetes. The ATTD 2012 Yearbook therefore significantly contributes to the principal mission of the ATTD, which is to facilitate the spread of knowledge and practical experience of new technologies and treatments for diabetes to all healthcare professionals and related experts in our global diabetes community.
