Abstract

LRF becomes LE&RN
In 2013, LRF rededicated itself to the mission of finding treatment and cures for lymphatic disease and lymphedema through research, while expanding that mission to include a broader focus on education and advocacy. This evolution culminates in a yearlong undertaking resulting in the rebranding of the organization. To begin with, we have moved our offices to 261 Madison Avenue in NYC where staff and stakeholders have easy access to one another. In the fall of 2013, LRF became Lymphatic Education and Research Network—LE&RN. In addition to our focus on increasing public and private funding for research, our objective is to raise awareness, make connections and inspire action leading to a critical mass of those who know and support lymphatic disease research. We seek to bring visibility of lymphatic disease to the public at large, where it is currently largely invisible. Finally, we are focused on providing knowledge, resources, support and hope to patients and their loved ones.
LE&RN launched an entirely new website this fall to highlight these efforts as we strive to be a go to site for researchers, patients, medical practitioners, and the public interested in lymphatic disease. We also look for these efforts to attract a larger sample base for our patient registry and tissue bank.
