Abstract

Answer D.
Slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE) was formerly known as slipped upper femoral epiphysis (SUFE). It is a condition characterized by displacement of the femoral epiphysis relative to the metaphysis. It usually affects children older than 10 years and is slightly more common in boys.
The diagnosis is confirmed with anteroposterior and frog lateral radiographs showing medial displacement of the femoral epiphysis.
If SCFE is suspected, the child should be referred immediately to secondary care for confirmation of the diagnosis and surgical treatment.
