Abstract

Answer D.
Withdrawal effects on stopping treatment with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRIs) are mild and self-limiting but in some cases may be severe. Drugs with a shorter half-life, such as paroxetine, are associated with a higher risk of withdrawal symptoms. Gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, anxiety, dizziness, paraesthesia, electric shock sensation in the head, neck and spine, tinnitus and sleep disturbances, fatigue, influenza-like symptoms and sweating are the most common features of abrupt withdrawal of an SSRI or a marked reduction of the dose.
