Abstract
PURPOSE
To analyze and synthetize the existing scientific literature in relation to the nursing diagnosis disturbed thought processes (DTPs) (00130).
METHODS
An integrative review was developed, identifying relevant papers through a search of international and Spanish databases and the examination of key manuals.
FINDINGS
Theoretical papers propose modifications for the nursing diagnosis DTPs. Most of the research papers offer data about its frequency in different clinical settings.
CONCLUSIONS
There exists an interest in the nursing diagnosis DTPs. However, the available evidence is not very extensive and further work is necessary in order to refine this nursing diagnosis.
IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE
The re-inclusion of DTPs in the NANDA-I classification will specially contribute to increment its utility in mental healthcare.
