A critical problem in teacher education programs has been the shortage of adequately trained critic teachers to supervise student teachers in special education. In this article the author describes a university course to train critic teachers for supervisory roles in the area of mental retardation. A student teacher guide and a small book of suggestions were developed by the critic teachers.
