Abstract
Teacher preparation has been oriented about the college classroom. If a future teacher is to have adequate preparation for his career then we must broaden the scope of educational experiences and provide him extended opportunities to observe and be in contact with the kind of child to be met following college preparation. The brief student teaching exposure is insufficient for producing necessary experiences with children. Additional time in observing experienced teachers, working with a variety of materials and children, and more varied course work may help.
