Abstract
THE FIRST International Mcdical Conference on Alcoholism was organized by the Medical Council on Alcoholism at the Royal College of Physicians, London. In his forerrord, Sir Dick Caldwell, Executive Director of the MCA, explains that the organizing committee were determined that ample discussion should be allowed following the main papers, and a "relative series" of papers (16 in all) was presented during the five days of the Conference by authorities from Canada, England, France, Netherlands, Norway, Scotland, Sweden, the USA, and Yugoslavia.
