Abstract
We report with considerable regret the recent passing of Mr David Nutting, MBE, President of the Institute from 1967 to 1969. He played a central role in the Institute’s efforts to obtain a Royal Charter, granted in 1975, and to commemorate this service to the Institute, his paper, originally published in Measurement + Control, June 1975, on the subject, is re-printed below.
