The changes in European politics have brought territorial disputes back on to the agenda. Territorial disputes have suffered from scholarly neglect during the past decades. Goertz and Diehl's recent study is a major effort within this field; despite its many merits, however, the book suffers from certain major deficiencies. Notably, territorial disputes are poorly suited for behaviouristic analysis. There is therefore a need for more studies, drawing on different approaches, within the field of territorial conflicts and their resolution.
