Abstract
A comprehensive preventive maintenance program minimizes equipment breakdowns and cuts operating costs, which in turn improves productivity.
A mathematical definition of the maintenance process and criteria for its optimization is presented in two stages: (1) struc tural optimization of a maintenance process by selecting an ap propriate repair strategy and (2) parametrical optimization con sisting of choosing optimal (based on assumed criterion) times and scopes of repair actions. General classification of the repair strategies, their characteristics and results of simulation ex periments are presented.
