The determination of the acid groups of three acrylic fibers has been carried out, using Dralon, Euroacril, and Courtelle, by means of potentiometry and dyeing. Values found are different in each case, not only in the total groups, but also in the strong and weak acid groups; the titration gives a lower number of total acid groups when using a dyeing method. An explanation of the causes that may give rise to this difference is discussed; the possibility of some dye being set on the fiber by the solution is likely. It has not been possible to determine the sequence of the combination of the dye with the acid groups of the fiber.
