Abstract

Tebeaux, E. (1991). Whatever happened to technical writing? Journal of Technical Writing and Communication, 47(1), 3–21. https://doi.org/10.1177/0047281616641933
At the request of Editor-in-Chief, Charles H. Sides, PhD, with the agreement of Elizabeth Tebeaux, PhD, the following article has been retracted.
The guest editorial is being retracted after careful review and consideration. The editor has determined to retract the editorial due to sentiments expressed therein, which may be interpreted as racist and derogatory in reference to students. These statements were refuted by scholarship available at the time of the editorial's publication date and do not meet the journal's standards.
The Committee on Publication Ethics retraction guidelines state that retraction is appropriate where the findings are unreliable. As a guest editorial, the work did not undergo the journal's regular peer review process, and we regret that we did not identify and address these concerns with the author prior to publication.
We apologize to readers for the hurtful statements included in the editorial and for our failure to maintain our high standards of academic rigor.
