In this paper our objective is to provide an overview of globalisation and its discontents at a macro level in terms of weakening of the sovereign nation-state, deregulation, liberalisation, privatisation and marketisation. Second, we would present the grand narrative of ‘Dominant Development Discourse ‘ (DDD) with its perceptions and priorities, vision and model, especially in the context of India. Third, we would analyse as to why the marginalised people protest in their everyday life. Finally, we would try to explore as to whether there emerges an ‘Alternative Development Paradigm’ (ADP) in a manifest or latent form. The paper is divided into four sections for convenience.
