Abstract

At the request of Sage and the Journal Editor, the following article has been retracted:
Meyer, A., Truman, K., Totlani, J., William, C., Brown, H., Shah, S., Hirsch, D., Salem, M., Chang, T., Abdelsalam, R., Renteria, S., Murphy, N., Hedrick, R., Danovitch, I., Pechnick, R. N., & IsHak, W. W. (2024). Systematic review of long-acting injectable antipsychotic medications approved from 2008 to October 2024 and agents in phase 3. The International Journal of Psychiatry in Medicine, 0(0). 10.1177/00912174241310091.
The Journal was contacted by a reader raising concerns about inaccuracies in the article. Specifically, they noted that incorrect facts were stated about the drugs discussed and that citations did not support statements against which they were referenced.
During an internal review, alongside an Editorial Board Member, further concerns were noted. Some of the concerns noted were: - ARISTADA INITIO’s dosage is incorrectly labeled as 674 mg in Table 2 and in the Dose and route subsection. ARISTADA INITIO is provided in 675 mg doses - Reference 28, Leucht S et al,
1
is used to support statements about the availability and pricing of Aripiprazole Lauroxil. This citation does not relate to Aripiprazole Lauroxil - Reference 29, Zhu B et al,
2
is used as a citation to support statements on Clinical Global Impression scores in the treatment groups compared to placebo of Aripiprazole lauroxil. This citation focuses on examining antipsychotic adherence. - Under the “Rykindo” section, the authors state it can be given bimonthly (every 2 months) when its correct dosage is biweekly (every 2 weeks). - Under the “Rykindo” section, the authors list 75 mg as an evidence-based dose, but there is no 75 mg dose approved by the United States’ Food and Drug Administration. Rykindo is only available in 25 mg, 37.5 mg, and 50 mg doses.
The authors were contacted for comment and asked to provide an explanation as to how these inaccuracies occurred. The authors provided a correction but were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation as to how the errors occurred.
Due to the unresolved concerns, this article has been retracted.
W.W.I. responded, disagreeing with the retraction decision, on behalf of all authors.
