The statistician is viewed as a valuable member of many drug development teams at many pharmaceutical companies. But does the value of the statistician to the team or the company reach its full potential? In this commentary, I will explore, from the viewpoint of a statistician in the pharmaceutical industry, the skills that statisticians possess and address how those skills can be better used for the benefit of the statistician, the teams on which he or she is a member, and the company paying his or her salary.
