Abstract
Social skills training provides a cost-effective way to proactively alter the classroom environment. This article describes implementation of a brief social skills unit into two fourth-grade classes. Past research which provided the rationale and theoretical basis for this program, including consideration of subject characteristics, technique effectiveness and methods of implementation, is cited. The article includes a step-by-step description of each session comprising the unit. Perceived benefits for students and the overall development of the school psychologist's role are addressed.
