Abstract

The Eerie Case Conference is a fun and educational annual experience, now available online for a wider audience. Each year around the time of Halloween, experts share challenging diagnostic or surgical cases, including what they would do differently. As trainees and clinicians, we all have experienced “eerie” cases ranging from the gruesome such as a live roach in the ear canal to cases that are personally haunting due to a missed opportunity or surgical dilemma. This year, I was fortunate to both present at the conference as well as serve as the guest editor for this special issue of the Ear, Nose & Throat Journal. I would like to thank the authors for sharing cases, ranging from rare tumors to invasive infections, that have fascinated them in the last year. I hope that the cases intrigue and instruct in print as much as they did during the live conference.
