Abstract

The Midwest Nursing Research Society has a mission to generate knowledge, translate evidence into practice, and enhance careers through collaborative engagement, implementation, and dissemination among diverse scholars. The Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS) Foundation strives to support this mission by funding grants for nursing scholars and researchers. We want to foster innovation in nursing research and support the new generations of researchers. Bill Gates is reported to have said this:
I believe in innovation, and the way to achieve it is to fund research and learn the basic facts.
We fund nursing research to build the basic facts or evidence to improve practice and promote health. We are always looking for ways to increase our ability to raise funds. As you plan your fall, you may want to think about planning your giving and think about giving to the MNRS Foundation. We share all we can each year to support research grants for MNRS members. And we cannot provide funding for all the applications we get. As a result, some worthy projects are denied each year due to lack of funds. We want to remind you of the different options we have for donations.
The Gemstone Society is for one-time gifts to the foundation. We accept donations of all sizes and use the funds to support nursing science through our grant opportunities. When you renew your members, you can add a bit to support the foundation. If you make a gift to the Foundation directly from your IRA retiermement account, you can make a donation while lessening the tax burden on you. You can also make a gift through your estate plans. You should contact your tax advisor and the MNRS Foundation Executive Office for more information. Donors can also name a grant in honor of someone and select a research area or level of funding to direct the grant. We would love to discuss options with you.
We have another great option. Members can Honor a Researcher. These gifts can be made to acknowledge a colleague, mentor, friend, or student for their contribution to the profession or for accomplishing a goal while supporting the Foundation’s mission to fund nursing research. We will recognize these researchers at the annual conference. We hope you will consider these options and help us continue to support our researchers in the Midwest. We have much to discover!
