The following paper is an edited version of a talk given at an SRAB seminar on Low Vision Services at the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, 28 November 1984. Attention is drawn to the need for greater awareness of the various visual disabilities in the elderly and for the appropriate help required from workers in the community.
