Presents some of the problems the foreign
language barrier creates in the handling of
scientific and technical texts in Brazil and
suggests the creation of some automated
tools to overcome the problems. The design
of term banks and databases whach take into
consideration the foreign language barrier are
also seen in the context of a national and
international effort to maximize the access
and retrieval of technical and scientific
documents to cater for the information needs
of Brazilian society and contribute to the
rational introduction of new technologies in
the country and improve multilingual
communication worldwide.
