Opportunity to Participate in Aossm Feasibility Study
AOSSM is exploring the possibility of conducting a multicenter study that evaluates acute intervention strategies that could prevent or delay posttraumatic osteoarthritis following ACL injury. An important initial step before launching such a project is to establish the feasibility of obtaining sufficient numbers of patients who present to orthopaedic surgeons within the hypothesized window during which chondroprotective interventions are most likely to be effective (ie, within 1 week of injury). Participation in the feasibility study would involve recording very basic information (eg, date of injury, date of consultation, age, gender) for all cases seen for an initial ACL injury during 3 consecutive months. Data collection will begin in August 2011 but individuals can get involved any time before April 2012. If you are interested in participating in the feasibility study or would like additional information, please contact Bart Mann, AOSSM Director of Research, at
