Abstract

The JPER editorial team welcomes a new member and says farewell to a departing member. As of July 1, 2019, Michael Smart becomes Coeditor in Chief, after having served ably as Associate Editor. Mike is an associate professor of urban planning and policy development at Rutgers, and a specialist in transportation planning. Frank Popper is stepping down from his Coeditor in Chief role in favor of senior statesman status. Thanks to Frank for his wisdom, humor, and scalpel-like editorial pen. Clinton Andrews continues as Coeditor in Chief, Karen Lowrie continues as Managing Editor, and Katharine Nelson continues as Editorial Assistant.
This transition presages a larger transition that begins on January 1, 2020. During the first half of the year, the leadership of JPER will move from Rutgers University to Texas A&M University, where a stellar team led by Shannon van Zandt is poised to take the helm, or better, reins, given it is cattle country. The new team will handle all new manuscripts arriving in the new year, while the old team will handle revise-and-resubmits until June 30, 2020, after which the new team will take charge of the whole process.
Whether you prefer the ship or wagon analogy more, rest assured that JPER is in good hands and heading in the right direction. We welcome your comments on our content and the new features we have been adding, including most recently Chinese and Spanish language abstracts, tracking of Altmetrics, and color covers.
