Abstract

The Irish Journal of Sociology awards a distinguished article each calendar year at the annual conference of the Sociological Association of Ireland (SAI). This award, adjudicated by an independent committee of experts, is an opportunity to underline work that is exceptional in scope, contribution and relevance to sociology in Ireland the discipline more broadly. For an original contribution on the distribution of economic stress across income classes and age groups, which greatly advances our understanding of the Great Recession, we proudly celebrate the following article: Whelan, C. T., Nolan, B. and Maître, B. (2017) The Great Recession and the changing intergenerational distribution of economic stress across income classes in Ireland: A comparative perspective. Irish Journal of Sociology 25(2), 105–127.
