Corrigendum: Miranda at 50

In Table 1 of this article, the fifth prong of the Miranda warning was incorrect. The corrected table is shown below.

Components of the Warning-and-Waiver Requirement in Miranda v. Arizona (1966)

Prong 1	You have the right to remain silent.
Prong 2	Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.
Prong 3	You have the right to an attorney.
Prong 4	If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you.
Prong 5	You can invoke these rights at any time.

Note: The first four Miranda prongs are standard across all jurisdictions. The fifth prong, while consistent with the Court’s opinion, is not essential and is applied inconsistently across jurisdictions (see Rogers, Hazelwood, Harrison, Sewell, & Shuman, 2008).
