Abstract

To the Editor,
We would like to share ideas on the publication “Baricitinib Versus Tocilizumab for the Treatment of Moderate to Severe COVID-19.” 1 There was no discernible difference in the composite result between patients who received tocilizumab or baricitinib for the treatment of COVID-19, according to Reid et al. However, compared with those taking baricitinib, those receiving tocilizumab experienced higher rates of thrombosis. Larger prospective, randomized trials must be conducted to corroborate these findings. 1 We both concur that there may be clinical applications for tocilizumab or baricitinib. However, it is critical to be aware of any potentially confusing factors. It is difficult to entirely rule out the effects of medication, individual illness, and comorbidity. In addition, the preceding asymptomatic COVID-19 must be considered. It is crucial to consider the fact that COVID-19 is commonly asymptomatic when assessing the efficacy of medical treatment. 2
