2012 Western Political Science Association Meeting
The 2012 meeting of the Western Political Science Association will be held at the Marriott Waterfront in Portland, Oregon, from March 22 to 24. Peregrine Schwartz-Shea, University of Utah, is serving as Program Chair for this meeting. Chris Shortell, Portland State University, is the Local Arrangements Chair. The participation form and information regarding the conference, its theme, and a list of section chairs are available on the WPSA website: www.wpsanet.org. The deadline for proposals is September 18, 2011.
New Officers and Council Members
Future officers of the WPSA were elected at the Business Meeting held in April 2011 in San Antonio, Texas. Gary Segura, Stanford University, was elected to the position of Vice President and Program Chair 2012–2013. He will oversee the program for the 2013 meeting in Hollywood, California, and will serve as President of the Association during the subsequent year. New members elected to the Executive Council for the term 2012–2015 are as follows: Region A: Mary Caputi, California State University, Long Beach, and Mark Bevir, University of California, Berkeley; Region B: Gabriel Sanchez, University of New Mexico; and Region C: Jeanne Morefield, Whitman College. These new council members will assume their positions just prior to the March 2012 meeting in Portland, Oregon.
The Western: The WPSA Newsletter
The WPSA has begun to publish an online newsletter. The Western is designed to provide an outlet for news about the Association and its members and to provide a forum for scholarly conversations on political science teaching, research, and political events focused on but not limited to the western region. The editors of the newsletter are Stephen J. Stambough and Valerie R. O’Regan, both of California State University, Fullerton. The two editors welcome comments, suggestions, and submissions.
