Abstract
Volunteering to serve others brings a moment of happiness, a smile, an exciting gesture, and a hug that touches the heart. The Volunteer Services Program, developed by Mercy Home Care Services, are necessary to the elderly, especially with this population living longer than ever before. The initial population to be served by this program are seniors, age 65 and above, who receive home health care services. Many patients live alone and can benefit from such a program because the volunteer assists in easing the burden of simple daily tasks. Volunteers provide a variety of valuable services for home health patients, families, and staff.
