Abstract

Zhou, X., & Kohnen, A. M. (2025). “You Are No Longer Your Past Self”: Embodied Criticality in One Chinese Rural Student’s Storyworlding. Journal of Literacy Research, 57(3), 366–387. https://doi.org/10.1177/1086296X251352307 (Original work published 2025)
The authors would like to alert readers to the following changes in their article:
The authors overlooked the citation of prior related work1. These articles stem from a larger, multi-year narrative inquiry conducted as part of author Xuanya Zhou’s PhD dissertation.
To correct this unreferenced overlap between the article and prior publication, the authors have added citation to the following sections:
(i) The beginning of the Method section, now stating, “Data for this study come from a larger, multi-year project involving six participants (see Zhou & Kohnen, 2024)”;
(ii) The first sentence of the final paragraph in “Literacy Practice as Affective Worlding,” revised to read, “Despite its significance, few empirical studies (Zhou & Kohnen, 2024) have explored counter-storytelling as affective worlding from a material-discursive perspective.”
The Journal Editor confirmed that the changes to the article do not alter the results and conclusions.
The authors apologize to readers for this inadvertent error.
