JFMS
JFMS papers make headlines around the world
Two JFMS papers published OnlineFirst in the past few months have hit the headlines! ‘Influence of music and its genres on respiratory rate and pupil diameter variations in cats under general anaesthesia: contribution to promoting patient safety’ by Mira et al, and ‘Audiogenic reflex seizures in cats’ by Lowrie et al, have both gone global, receiving media coverage from around the world.
‘The Times of India’, ‘Daily Telegraph Sydney’, ‘NBC’, ‘Vet Times’ and ‘BBC News’ are just some of the news providers that have featured the articles. This unprecedented attention is reflected in the below article level metric (Altmetric) scores for the articles (correct as of end of May) – which are the highest to date for any JFMS papers and put them in the top 5% of all articles tracked to date by Altmetric.
ISFM
Great ‘cattitude’ on display at BSAVA
ISFM was thrilled by the enthusiastic response it received from delegates at the recent British Small Animal
Veterinary Association (BSAVA) congress held in Birmingham, UK. Vets and nurses flocked to the stand to find out more about the new-look Cat Friendly Clinic programme and a record number of online applications from clinics hoping to gain accreditation was made over the four days of the congress.
Nurses were also able to find out more about ISFM’s recently launched nursing membership. Nurses can sign up for free at icatcare.org/nurses to receive the monthly e-publication Feline Focus and gain access to free monthly webinars.
An ISFM symposium on practical feline oncology and ophthalmology held at the congress attracted an audience of nearly 250.
Over 1000 ‘How old is your cat?’ posters were given away at the congress. The poster can be downloaded for free from icatcare.org/how-old-your-cat. Those making a donation to the ISFM parent charity, International Cat Care, via this web page will be sent an A2 version for display as a thank you
