Abstract

Figure legend: Picture A shows a honeycomb keratopathy after using Roclanda (Rho-kinase inhibitor: Netarsudil and latanoprost) eye drops. In the previous eye history of the patient a glaucoma tube shunt surgery was performed three years before (arrow in picture B shows the tube correctly positioned in the anterior chamber) and the patients suffered from intermittend corneal edema afterwards. After using Roclanda eye drops because of rising eye pressure, the cornea presented after six weeks with epithelial reticular microcysts, as in figure A (slit-lamp picture) and B (Anteriore segment OCT picture) showed. The visual acuity at that time was hand motion. After discontinuing Roclanda, the cornea recovered completly within a few weeks. In conclusion, a rare but reversible side effect of Rho-kinase inhibitors is the honeycomb keratopathy. Rho-kinase inhibitors should be used with caution in patients with compomised endothelium, like after multiple eye surgeries especially tube surgery.
