Abstract
INFOSAT is a concept in the direct broadcasting via satellite of library-based audio-visual material. The following is an extract from a discussion paper prepared by John A Gillam,
The preface to the paper states that the INFOSAT concept is put forward by the National Library without commitment and on the understanding that, unless options for satellite applications are explored at this time, the satellite planners may proceed in such a way as to preclude the possibilities for certain types of service. If sufficient interest in INFOSAT eventuates, the National Library may consider proceeding to studies of the feasibility and viability of INFOSAT services.
