Excess abdominal fat is associated with heart attack
A large waist-hip ratio is a more important risk factor for heart attacks than weight, especially for younger to middle-aged women. This is shown in a new study from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and the University of Bergen.
How many children were vaccinated in 2015?
More and more children in Norway are being vaccinated and now the vast majority of children and adolescents have taken the vaccines recommended in the Childhood Immunisation Programme. This comes from the national vaccination coverage statistics for 2015.

Slight increase in drug consumption in 2015
Drug sales measured in defined daily doses (DDD) increased by 2 per cent from 2014 to 2015. Revenue growth was 8.6 per cent. This is shown in “Drug Consumption in Norway 2011-2015”, a report issued by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health.

Decline in HIV cases in Norway in 2015
221 new cases of HIV were diagnosed in Norway in 2015, a decline from 249 cases in 2014. The main decline is among men who have sex with men (MSM), according to a new report from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. There is little change in the HIV situation among the other groups compared with 2014.

Gonorrhoea cases continue to rise
In Norway, the number of notified gonorrhoea cases are now the highest for 25 years. Reported cases of syphilis declined slightly but are still high compared to a few years ago, according to 2015 figures released by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health.
