Abstract
The following is the opening contribution to a discussion on the Ministry of Education Building Bulletin No. 9 on Colour in Schools. After explaining the object of the Bulletin, the functions of the architect and lighting engineer in this field and the importance of colour on both aesthetic and functional grounds are discussed. Factors to be considered in the selection and use of appropriate colours are also discussed.
