The Publisher and the Journal Editor were contacted by a reader raising concerns around the authenticity of the data presented in the article. The following concerns were noted:
The article does not provide details about clinical trial registration. The Ethical approval statement does not provide the full name and institution of the review committee and approval number. The information provided in the methodology of the article appears insufficient. There is no clear inclusion and exclusion criteria of participants, method of randomization or allocation concealment. No details regarding the period of data collection, and information on whether there were any participant drop-outs and how these were handled.
The authors were contacted for comment and asked to provide the underlying data associated with the article. They provided the underlying data associated with the article and the Ethical approval documentation.
The authors’ response was reviewed by Sage and the Journal Editor who deemed the concerns around the validity of the data and the analysis reported in the article to be unresolved. The authors confirmed that no clinical trial registration was done before the data collection began.
Due to the unresolved concerns that call into question the validity of the findings the Journal Editor retracts the article.
