Abstract

The following questions for SVU-CME credit are based on the article entitled “Indirect Duplex Ultrasound Diagnosis of Innominate Artery Occlusive Disease.”
Both true/false and multiple-choice questions are included. There is only one (1) correct answer for the multiple-choice test questions. Answer all the questions listed below. One-half (0.5) CME credit will be awarded for successful completion of this test with a grade of 80% or more.
Which artery is the first branch off the aortic arch? Right subclavian artery Right common carotid artery Brachiocephalic artery Left innominate artery
According to the article, at what angle does the innominate artery arise parallel to the duplex ultrasound beam? 0 degrees 45 degrees 45-60 degrees > 60 degrees
In the 69-year-old patient the case reported, the extracranial arteries exhibited tardus-parvus characteristics and momentary flow reversal which are evidence of a more proximal high-grade stenosis or occlusion. True False
Treatment plans for suspected innominate artery occlusion prior to surgical intervention include all of the following contrast imaging modalities except: Digital subtraction angiography Computed tomography Magnetic resonance angiography Transcranial Doppler
In Figure 2, the duplex ultrasound of the right common carotid artery demonstrates “alternating flow”. A majority of the flow is antegrade with a slight reversal of retrograde flow. True False
Steal syndrome occurs as a result of pressure gradients and increased peripheral resistance. True False
Instructions: CME tests are offered only online at www.svu.org. SVU members can complete the tests and earn CME credit for free. Nonmembers will be charged $20 per one-half (0.5) CME test taken. All tests for SVU CME must be completed by August 31, 2027.
