Achilles tendon rupture is common in sports players and more common in males. At the time of the injury, a pop is sometimes heard. There is often intense pain within the Achilles tendon. Once the pain settles, people often struggle to walk as they cannot plantarflex. Swelling and bruising may also be seen.
