You see an 8-year-old child with an acute mild asthma attack. His symptoms started the day before. He is taking his inhaled corticosteroids daily. Mum is keen to avoid a hospital admission and you don’t clinically feel he warrants one either.
On examination he doesn’t have any signs of a bacterial infection and his observations are all stable.
15 mg prednisolone for 3 days 30 mg prednisolone for 3 days 30 mg prednisolone for 7 days 40 mg prednisolone for 3 days 40 mg prednisolone for 5 days
