Abstract

Answer C. Packing of the nose and admission to hospital
With failure of the initial first aid measures and no obvious bleeding point identified anteriorly to safely cauterise, packing of the nose in primary care, if possible, and admission to hospital is indicated. Topical Naseptin® cream can be prescribed 4 times daily for 10 days to reduce crusting and prevent nasal vestibulitis if first aid measures have been successful.
