Answer A. Surgery can be considered for BMI >35 kg/m2 with comorbidities or >40 kg/m2 without comorbidities
According to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance, bariatric surgery may be considered for individuals with BMI >40 kg/m2 or BMI 35–40 kg/m2 with significant obesity-related diseases that could improve with weight loss. Surgery can also be considered for BMI 30–35 kg/m2 if type 2 diabetes is present.
