Abstract

Answer B. Androgenetic alopecia
This patient presents with a classic distribution of hair loss (frontal and vertex), consistent with androgenetic alopecia, also known as male pattern hair loss. It is characterised by progressive miniaturisation of hair follicles in androgen-sensitive areas. A family history and gradual onset support the diagnosis. Examination typically shows non-scarring, miniaturised hairs and retention of occipital hair.
