She takes metformin 1 g twice daily and does not drink alcohol. Her body mass index (BMI) is 32 kg/m2 and waist circumference is 102 cm.
Investigations show:

- Aspartate aminotransferase (AST): 39 U/L
- Platelet count: 220 × 109/L
- Glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c): 52 mmol/mol
