Sodium–glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors are recommended as add-on therapy to optimised (highest tolerated licensed dose) Renin–Angiotensin System (RAS) blockade in adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who have:
eGFR of 20–45 mL/min per 1.73 m2, or
eGFR 45–90 mL/min per 1.73 m2 with either a urine albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR) ⩾ 22.6 mg/mmol or coexisting type 2 diabetes
