Abstract

Hooghe, Marc, Laura Jacobs, and Ellen Claes. 2015. “Enduring gender bias in reporting on political elite positions: Media coverage of female MPs in Belgian news broadcasts (2003–2011)”. The International Journal of Press/Politics 20 (4): 395–414.
The Editor and Publisher have issued the following correction for the article after receiving notice of the September 27, 2017 recommendation issued by the Flemish Commission for Scientific Integrity (FCSI). The FCSI recommendation confirmed an earlier determination of the Commission for Scientific Integrity (CWI) at KU Leuven, which found that the data referenced in the article was based on a dataset created by researcher Yves Dejaeghere and incorporated in the article without appropriate attribution to Dr. Dejaeghere. Marc Hooghe, the lead author of the article, denied this claim, but both the CWI and FCSI found that the dataset created by Dr. Dejaeghere was a crucial connection of the parliamentary career data with data from the ENA database discussed in the article, and that Dr. Hooghe had wrongfully used the dataset without providing any attribution to Dr. Dejaeghere.
The article is being corrected to include acknowledgement to Yves Dejaeghere as the creator of the dataset referenced in the article.
