$10,000 Underrepresented Minority Research Grant Opportunity
The AMSSM Foundation is pleased to announce the release of the Minority Research Grant Award Request for Proposals.
The purpose of the AMSSM Minority Research Grant is to provide research opportunities specifically for historically underrepresented minorities in biomedical research to advance representation across diverse backgrounds and promote health equity in sports medicine research. Grant awards are designed to provide support for promising, innovative research projects, and the total amount of available funding is $10,000.
A completed grant application must be submitted through the AMSSM Grant Portal by February 11, 2022. Visit www.amssm.org/research.php for more details and apply.
Point Requirement Lowered for AMSSM Affiliate Membership
At the summer 2021 AMSSM Board of Directors Meeting, it was approved to lower the point requirement for Affiliate membership to a minimum of 11 requisite points, lowered from 25. Please share this news with your sports medicine colleagues in related fields (orthopaedics/orthopedics, neurology, cardiology, etc.) and encourage them to join AMSSM as an Affiliate member.
Membership Chairperson, Nailah Coleman, MD, said, “AMSSM decided to lower the point requirement to ensure we are making Affiliate membership available to all of the great doctors that can advance our care of athletes in ways in which we have not trained.”
