Abstract

The National Acute Pain Symposium (NAPS) is delighted to maintain this link with the British Journal of Pain in the publication of the winning abstracts from our poster submissions. This is an area which has grown both numerically and in quality over the last two to three years and has become more challenging to judge. This year Professor Ian Power and Dr Ruth Day were very impressed with the quality of the submissions and particularly congratulate those published here. We hope you will also find them of interest.
First place went to the snapshot audit of patients undergoing abdominal surgery: we look forward to the continuing work from this group. Second place considered the clinical utility of the published Rib Fracture Score system and the third placed poster compared doses of pregabalin for Total Knee Replacement surgery. The work on inpatient chronic and complex pain was highly commended.
All of the submitted abstracts can be found on the NAPS website (www.napsuk.co.uk) if you find your interest whetted by these.
