Abstract

It gives me great pleasure and pride to introduce this abstract book for the annual BAUS meeting here in Glasgow.
The presence of the EAU in London earlier this year was not only a huge boost to British Urology but also served to focus our minds closer to home to appreciate the impact and contribution Great Britain has made to Urology over the past 60 to 70 years.
That the ‘Best of British’ has become the mantra for the 2017 BAUS annual meeting was, therefore, no accident and you will see from the enclosed abstracts that the quality of the work to be showcased during these three days is truly outstanding.
The Journal of Clinical Urology is delighted to continue to publish the abstracts for what is the pre-eminent meeting within UK Urology and I am certain that all colleagues, whether participating from the audience, presenting, chairing or engaging in SoMe will benefit hugely from this three day meeting.
Finally, my thanks to the staff and Trustees of BAUS for allowing the JCU to publish these abstracts, to SAGE for their invaluable work in making the JCU a success and of course to Mr Jonathan Goddard, Curator of the BAUS Museum, for his excellent article on Tom Chapman who, amongst other achievements, set up a specialised unit at Hairmyres hospital, not too far south of Glasgow in the late 1940’s.
I hope you all have an excellent annual meeting; please do visit the JCU stand to keep abreast with your journal, offer feedback or become involved in any way you can.
