Several authors [1-7] have discussed the influence of molecular weight and pro cessing conditions on the physical properties of products made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Since creep is an important and inevitable characteristic of polymers, it was decided to determine the affects of these factors on the creep of PET and then compare them to other plastics. Oriented PET turns out to be surprisingly resistant to creep, compared to many other polymers. However, it is possible to miss creep goals even with PET, if the balance of orientation and processing conditions is not controlled.
